Nonbinary Body Contouring

Body contouring for nonbinary individuals depends on the individual’s preferences and surgical goals. Achieving the ideal shape to your torso depends on which parts of your figure give you dysphoria. If you were assigned female at birth, you may feel dysphoria in that your silhouette feels too much like an “hour glass” shape. If this is the cases, you may feel relief from dysphoria by liposuction to the lateral hips (“love handles”) to achieve a more neutral appearance to your torso. If you were assigned male at birth, you may feel your torso appears too masculine and your dysphoria may be related to lessening the rectangular appearance to your torso by liposuction to the waistline.
If you have excess fatty tissue but no skin excess (the areas are full but the skin is not sagging or hanging), you are likely a good candidate for liposuction of these areas alone. You can read more about liposuction here.
If you have skin excess which is identified by sagging or hanging skin, you may require a skin excision procedure such as an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) or lower body lift. These procedures involve larger incisions, resulting in longer scars, but are beneficial in that they allow removal of excess skin.
